Fingerboard Knowledge – learning note names in a systematic way. e.g. through building walking bass lines.
Right Hand Technique – Slap, Pop, Tapping, Pick and Finger/Thumb Styles.
Repertoire – Carefully chosen to develop technique and style. Tracks/songs of bass lines you want to learn.
Genres– Understand the application of the bass in a variety of different styles, including Jazz, Funk, Latin, Reggae, World as well as mainstream genres.
Sound and projection
Improvisation – building bass lines from arpeggios and chord symbols, inspiring grooves.
Grooving and Time – development through exercises with a drum box or metronome
Reading Music – Notation and improvising from chord symbols
Ear Training – learn how to lift parts from your favorite records, by ear!
Graded Exams – preparation and submission for Trinity & Rock School graded exams 1-8
Double Bass – Simandl method, finger style Jazz.
Bass & Drums Workshop – Study and develop grooves with your drumming buddy (see rates below)
